CARNEGIE CHAMPION SCHOOLS RUNNERS-UP 2009
Wade Deacon's Year 10's finished runners-up for the third year running to Castleford High School in the Carnegie Champion Schools Final. Alex Clare scored a fine individual try but Wade Deacon were edged out as Castleford scored three try's which all came from kicks. |

Wade Deacon's Year 9 Girls' Team were valiant losers in a hard-fought game against two times Champions Castleford High School. The Widnes Girls battled to the final whistle against a larger and more experienced team from Castleford. However, it capped a fantastic season where they reach both the North West and the National Finals. |

RUGBY LEAGUE'S CARNEGIE CHALLENGE CUP TROPHY VISITS WADE DEACON HIGH SCHOOL
Wade Deacon's newly appointed Head Boy Aaron Leong is pictured with the Carnegie Challenge Cup Trophy. Aaron and his Year 10 rugby league team mates will be hoping the Carnegie Champion Schools Trophy will be at Wade Deacon in September, as they face Castleford High in the Final on 28th August in London. |

MR MITCHELL WINS HALTON STAFF GOLF TROPHY
Wade Deacon's Mr Mitchell won the Halton Staff Golf Trophy for players with a Handicap of less than 19. Mr Mitchell, who has a handicap of 14, won with a grand total of 41 points in the Stableford Event. Mr Woan and Mr Critchley, who played alongside Mr Mitchell, finished with 27 and 26 points in the over 20 Handicap event. |

EXTREME PE LESSON WITH TOUR DE WADE DEACON
Twenty five Year 7 pupils took the opportunity to do some Extreme PE on Bikes and they voted with their wheels. The boys raced around the school playing fields doing races and team games and begged Mr Woan and Mr Mitchell to let them do it again next lesson. |

VOLLEYBALL SUCCESS AT PONTINS
Wade Deacon entered six teams in the English Volleyball Association Championships at Pontins, Southport. Mr Mitchell & Mr Critchley's Year 7 teams were beaten semi-finalist in the Under 12 Boys Competition where Mr Woan's team won the Under 12 Plate Competition. The Girls teams finished 6th, 7th and 8th in the Under 15 Girls Competition. |

DANCING SUCCESS AT THE BRINDLEY
Wade Deacon's Jack Jones and Lauren Crowder thoroughly entertained the audience on their way to winning the Key Stage 4 Duo Category. BTEC Dance students' Jack and Lauren were stand out winners at The Brindley. The Jai Ho Dancers finished in Runners Up position in the highly contested Key Stage 4 Group Category. |

WADE DEACON GIRLS TAKE THEIR 'CHANCE TO SHINE'
Wade Deacon's Year 7 & 8 Cricket teams have triumphed in the Halton "Chance To Shine" Cricket Tournament. Two teams from Wade Deacon entered the tournament held on Astroturf at The Bankfield School. Team A won the tournament with victory in the Grand Final and Team B won the 3rd Place Play Off after being narrowly beaten in the Semi Final. |

WADE DEACON DOMINATE YEAR 7 HALTON ATHLETICS TEAM
Wade Deacon's Year 7 will be prominant in the forthcoming Cheshire Athletics Trials. Callum Isbell, Rob Geraghty, Dan Richardson, Noah Robson, Sheldon Johnson, Adam Kirby, Adam Paul, Jonny Rigby, Khalil Borrowman, James Thomson, Shelby Jack, Helen Crowder, Emily Barrow, Charmaine Warnick and Sam Simpson have all qualified. |

BOYS ROUNDERS CLEAN SWEEP FOR WADE DEACON
Wade Deacon's Year 7, 8 and 9 teams all won the Halton Schools Rounders Tournaments for their age group. Over 30 boys participated in the tournaments and Wade Deacon came out on top in all three Key Stage 3 year groups. |

5 PUPILS REPRESENT HALTON IN GERMANY Year 8 pupils Ryan Morgan Joe Holian, Nathan Woodward, Daniel Langford and Luke Jones all travelled to Germany to take part in the Dynamo Football Cup. The boys faced clubs from all over Europe and reached the Final where they were beaten on penalties by a team from Denmark. |

REBECCA BECOMES CHESHIRE SPRINT CHAMPION
Wade Deacon's Rebecca Preston raced to victory at the Cheshire County Athletics Championships at Macclesfield. Rebecca won 100m sprint with an excellent time of 12.8 secs. She was also selected to race for Cheshire in the Inter County Mason Trophy in Birmingham and the English Schools Championships at Don Valley Stadium, Sheffield. |

BTEC DANCERS HOST DANCE SESSIONS FOR LOCAL NURSERY
The Year 10 BTEC Dancers performed two Dances for Nursery pupils before teaching them a Lazy Town dance at Wade Deacon. Over 30 Nursery pupils were beaming with smiles as the BTEC Dance class showed them the moves over the two sessions. |

PUPILS ENJOY DIGITAL WORKSHOP AT LIVERPOOL INTERNATIONAL TENNIS TOURNAMENT A group of Year 9 pupils attended a Digital Workshop at Liverpool International Tennis Tournament. The interactive workshop involved using different types of Apple software. The pupils also had the opportunity to ask questions to former Wimbledon Referee Alan Mills and ex-professional Barry Cowan. |

HALTON PE AWARDS FOR JAMES CATON & ALEX ELLISON James Caton and Alex Ellison collected awards at the annual Halton PE & School Sport Celebration Event. James was presented with the Key Stage 4 Award and Alex picked up the Key Stage 3 Award for outstanding service to PE and School Sport at Wade Deacon. |

DANCERS EXCEL AT HALTON PE & SCHOOL SPORT CELEBRATION EVENT A group of talented Year 10 Girls produced a fantastic performance in front of a packed crowd at The Foundary. The excellent rendition of 'Jai Ho' showed the positive effects of BTEC Dance being introduced this year into Key Stage 4 PE. |

CARNEGIE CHAMPION SCHOOLS NATIONAL FINALISTS The Year 9 Girls Rugby League Team will join the Year 10 Boys Team on their way to Wembley in August. The Girls reached the National Final beating St Wilfreds of Wakefield 12-0 in the Semi Final at Hopwood Hall. The Girls are the only Wade Deacon team to reach both the North West and the National Final this season. |

LEWIS' ENGLAND TRY PROVES TO BE CRUCIAL Wade Deacon's Lewis Whitty crashed over in the final minutes of England Under 15s match against Wales Under 16s with the match winning try. With five minutes remaining the prop forward dragged two would-be tacklers over with him to touch down. England won the game 18-16 in what hopefully will be the first of many England appearances for Lewis. |

GIRLS CARNEGIE NORTH WEST CUP FINALISTS 2009 Year 9's reached the Carnegie North West Cup Final. Unfortunately, they met reigning Champions St John Fisher High School and narrowly lost. It has been an excellent season for the girls who have progressed through three regional tournaments to reach the North West Final. |

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SUCCESS FOR WADE DEACON Mr Mitchell has organised an Inter Tutor Extra Curricular Competition and boys and girls have turned up in numbers to participate. Each tutor group chose their team names which included the likes of Mitchester City, Golden Gauls and FC Critchley. The matches are taking place every Wednesday from 3pm. |

SHELBY BECOMES CHESHIRE SPRINT CHAMPION
Wade Deacon's Shelby Jack took the Gold Medal at the Cheshire County Athletics Championships in May. Shelby finished ahead of the pack in the 80m sprint with an excellent time of 11.4 secs. She followed this up with a Bronze Medal in the 150m with a Personal Best of 21.2 secs. |

NATIONAL FINALISTS FOR THE FOURTH YEAR RUNNING Wade Deacon's Year 10 made it four in a row as they beat Abraham Guest 20-4 in the Carnegie Champion Schools Semi Final. They face Castleford High in the final for the third year in a row having won the competition in 2006 at Twickenham. |

GIRLS FOOTBALL TEAM CHESHIRE CUP CHAMPIONS Wade Deacon's Girls Football Team were triumphant in the Under 16 Cheshire Cup Final with a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory. The game finished 3-3 after extra time but Wade Deacon held their nerve and Nicole Finnigan made the crucial penalty save to win the trophy |

YEAR 10 PUPILS EXCEL COACHING YEAR 8 Year 10 pupils studying OCR Sport have been coaching Year 8's during lessons. The Year 10 group have planned and organised a Rugby Tournament for Unit 3 and are currently training up small sided teams of Year 8 pupils with great success. |

LEWIS WHITTY SELECTED FOR ENGLAND UNDER 15
Lewis Whitty has been selected to represent England Under 15 Rugby League against Wales at Easter ’09. Lewis has attended the National Training Camp for two years and also attends the Widnes Vikings Scholarship Programme.

TABLE TENNIS SQUADS QUALIFY FOR NORTH WEST
The Under 16 and Under 13 Table Tennis squads qualified for the North West Regional Phase. Under 16 team of Matthew McCormick, John-Ryan Warnick, Daniel McEvoy and Daniel Wearden were also crowned Cheshire Champions.

Dom Speakman and Lewis Whitty have been selected to attend the England Rugby League National Camp at Leeds Carnegie. Dom and Lewis have Scholarships at St Helens and Widnes Vikings respectively.

LIAM HULME CAPTAINS ENGLAND UNDER 16
Wade Deacon’s Liam Hulme captained England Under 16 Rugby League. Liam has a great future in the sport and made his Warrington Wolves debut in December '08 in a friendly against Wigan Warriors still aged 16.

Wade Deacon reached the Year 9 Carnegie Champion Schools Cup Final for the third year running. Unfortunately, despite performing excellently, Wade Deacon lost to rivals Castleford High in the Final at RAF Uxbridge.

REBECCA IS IN ENGLAND'S SPRINTING ELITE After winning her heat at the Northern Indoor Athletics Championship in Sheffield, Rebecca Preston finished in 8.21 seconds to claim 5th place in the 60m Final. Rebecca who competes for Liverpool Harriers is ranked 12th in the UK at Womens Indoor 60m and her personal best is just 8.11 seconds. |

VOLLEYBALL TEAM ATTEND PONTINS TOURNAMENT Miss Broadhurst took four Girls' Volleyball teams to Pontins Outdoor Volleyball Tournament in July '08. The Under 15 team finished in third place and the Under 13 team were runners up in their competition. |

GOLF SQUAD VICTORIOUS IN HALTON TOURNAMENT Wade Deacon's Golf Squad were winners of Halton School Competition at Widnes Golf Club. They also scooped four individual awards. Astin Bell was overall winner, Joe Nolan achieved the Best Improvement on Handicap with Liam Orme scoring the lowest Gross Score and Tom Durbin was Runner Up of lowest Gross Score. |

PROMOTIONS FOR MR CRITCHLEY & MISS SCOTT
Mr Critchley and Miss Scott, who both began their Wade Deacon careers in 2005, have been appointed Leader of Boys and Leader of Girls respectively. Mr Critchley is also Key Stage 4 Coordinator and Miss Scott will coordinate Key Stage 3.

WARRINGTON/WIDNES CUP WINNERS 2008
Wade Deacon Year 8’s picked up the inaugural Warrington/Widnes Rugby League Cup with a pulsating game against Sts Peter & Paul. Playing downhill on a slopping pitch Wade Deacon took a 22-0 half time lead and hung on for a 22-20 victory.

NORTH WEST GIRLS RUGBY RUNNERS UP
Wade Deacon’s Year 9 Girls Rugby team finished runners up in the North West Girls Rugby Tournament. After winning their group stage and the semi final they were beaten by a very strong Southlands team.

MILE WITH A SMILE
Every pupil from Years 7-10 participated in ‘Mile with a Smile’ on the new Athletics Track. Pupils were given the opportunity to choose to walk, jog or run as long as they completed the four required laps. Staff and pupils competed together during National School Sport Week.

MR WOAN BECOMES
LEADER OF PE
Mr Woan has been appointed Leader of PE. After seven years in the department Mr Woan takes over from Mr Bramwell who has become an Assistant Headteacher. He leads a team of nine PE staff.

Wade Deacon held onto the Year 9 Powergen North West Schools Cup but must share it with Abraham Guest of Wigan after a 9-9 draw at Stobart Stadium Halton. Wade Deacon have retained the trophy for three consecutive years.

WADE DEACON DOMINATE CROSS COUNTRY TOP TEN
Nine of the first ten finishers in the Year 7 Halton Cross Country Trials were Wade Deacon pupils with Harry McDonnell claiming first place. All nine boys are to represent Halton at the Cheshire Cross Country Trials.

Rachel Moss and Emma Gifford attended the North West Regional Volleyball Trials. Year 11 pupil, Rachel was eventually successful and was invited to train with the squad.

LANCASHIRE RUGBY UNION PLATE CHAMPIONS
Year 11 won the Lancashire Rugby Union Plate Competition in their last ever game for Wade Deacon at Blackburn RUFC. The boys beat Private School Merchant Taylors of Crosby 24-17 in a pulsating game.

NORTH WEST RUGBY UNION CHAMPIONS
Wade Deacon won the North West Rugby Union Cup to add to their National and North West Rugby League Trophies. The boys won the Merseyside Cup and Lancashire Cup on the way to the title.

Wade Deacon won the Year 8 Powergen North West Schools Cup with a narrow 8-4 victory over rivals Abraham Guest of Wigan. Wade Deacon have met Abraham Guest in two North West Finals and one National Final, winning all three.

LIVERPOOL FC ACADEMY GRAND FINAL WINNERS
Wade Deacon’s Year 7 were crowned Liverpool FC Academy Winners with a dramatic late winner. The boys qualified through four rounds at the Academy before winning the Grand Final. The 9-a-side matches were played indoors on a Third Generation pitch.

Wade Deacon won the Year 7 Powergen North West Schools Cup with a 24-4 victory over Abraham Guest of Wigan. Captain and Stand Off Dominic Speakman picked up the Man of the Match Award.

Wade Deacon overcame a spirited Netherall High School team to win the Year 7 Powergen North West Schools Cup. With the score locked at 10-10, Wade Deacon clinched victory with a David Whittaker drop goal at Derwent Park, home of Workington Town.

POWERGEN CHAMPION SCHOOLS 2004 WINNERS
Wade Deacon were crowned Year 7 National Champions after a 32-10 victory over Whitchurch High School in the Powergen Champions Schools Final. The game was played as the curtain raiser for the 2004 Powergen Challenge Cup Final between St Helens and Wigan Warriors at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.
