Drama is taught in a purpose built Drama Studio which is fully equipped with state of the art sound and light systems. The department is well stocked with a variety of Key Stage 3 and 4 texts.
GCSE Drama is a highly successful subject, in 2008 93% of pupils gained A*-C grades.
There is only one tier of entry for Drama, with all pupils sitting the same examination.
There is an annual Arts’ Evening held in the summer term. In addition, a number of drama performances by different groups of pupils take place throughout the year. Previous productions have included Blue Remembered Hills, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth. In addition pupils have the opportunity to take part in national events such as the Shakespeare Schools’ Festival performing at local venues such as the Brindley.
